Introduction

I am Mariastella (Dominijanni) Cocchiara Chairperson of the Foreign Language Department at Melrose Public School. Presently, besides attending to the administrative responsibilities, I teaching Italian and Spanish.

For the past twenty five years my primary interest has been language acquisition and the teaching of Italian.I am a member of the Massachusetts Foreign Language Association (MaFLA.com) and the American Association Teachers of Italian (http://www.italianstudies.org/aati/).

Born and educated in Italy I completed my undergraduate and graduate degrees in the USA. In 1981 I received a Fulbright scholarship to study and teach at the University of Foreigners in Perugia
